Ácenar Offers Modern Take on Mexican Cuisine

Restaurateurs Lisa Wong (of Rosario’s fame) and her business partner Pete Selig (of Biga on The Banks’ fame), joined forces in 2005 to launch Ácenar – one of the largest and most innovative contemporary Mexican restaurants and bars on the San Antonio River Walk and Downtown area.

Ácenar’s professional team, led by Executive Chef Richard Sánchez, delivers a culinary explosion of bold Latin-infused flavors. Guests will enjoy a modern take on Texas regional Mexican dishes inspired by the history and heritage of these two cultures. Ácenar offers many fine selections of Gulf fish, crab and shrimp, or piping-hot San Antonio style enchiladas, savory chiles rellenos, sizzling parrilladas, asadas and cabrito — all made to perfection.

The contemporary-looking multi-level restaurant features floor, balcony and outdoor seating with breathtaking views of the San Antonio River Walk. Semi-private to private rooms are available for gatherings of any size.

After dinner, guests can linger upstairs in Ácenar’s Balcony Lounge or in the popular Houston Street level Átomar Bar where they’ll enjoy Latino-style cocktails, signature margaritas and premium tequilas from our extensive Latin drinks menu, including a chef-inspired small plates menu.

Daily lunch and happy hour specials, a festive weekend brunch and proximity to many downtown attractions, including the theater district, keep guests coming back for more.
